I found the workshop very useful, I have had problems understanding Pilates in the past. The pace of the workshop was perfect and the delivery was excellent.” J.D – Beginners workshop April 09

Beginners Pilates

Sunday 18th April 2010 12:00pm-2:30pm

2.5 hours - £25/£22 conc

A must for new starters who want to get the most out of their classes, great for anyone who has been to a class but didn't "get it". Also ideal for postnatal recovery. We will work slowly through all the pilates principles, particularly the confusing breathing! You should leave feeling relaxed and refreshed, but then feel surprisingly sore over the next couple of days as you'll have really worked those core muscles hard!

We will ask you to fill out a questionnaire prior to attending this workshop so that we can tailor the workshop appropriately in advance

Pilates For Cyclists

Sunday 18th April 2010 3:00pm-6:00pm

3 hours - £30/£27 conc

More information to follow soon.

This is not suitable for anyone brand new to pilates, you will need to have attended ten plus classes or the beginners workshop first. You can do both workshops on the same day if you wish! It will contain a blend of core exercises and many cycling specific exercises that we don't use during the pilates classes.

We will ask you to fill out a questionnaire prior to attending this workshop so that you can let me know about your running history and any old or new injuries we can tailor the workshop appropriately in advance

Pilates For Runners

New Dates To Be Announced

3.5 hours - £35/£30 conc

The questions that I get asked most are in reference to injuries or niggles arising from running and cycling. This workshop has taken a lot of research because the lower leg and lower back injuries we sustain when running are numerous and complex (and a minefield of "bad science").

This workshop is for all runners - brand new to running, easy paced joggers, seasoned marathon runners, it will give you a runners home program that will help safeguard you from injury. Should you already have been injured, these exercises will strengthen and repair, plus reverse any imbalances developed during the recovery phase.

The workshop will give you a runners program for general use and specific exercises to help you recover from injuries to the hip, knee, ankle and foot such as shin splints, plantar fasciitis, ITB and piriformis syndrome.

Improvers Pilates

New Dates To Be Announced

3 hours - £30/£27 conc

This workshop will be tailored towards those of you who are no longer brand new to pilates, but feel that you have specific areas that you still need to work on, such as "ab prep",or maybe maintaining neutral. Perhaps you have an injury or imbalance that we haven't adequately addressed in class, or you really just want to understand the theory more in order to improve your practice. This workshop will basically be created around those who sign up for it, so the sooner you sign up, the more time we have to make it applicable to your needs. For those of you who are fairly confident but just want to work harder we will look at layering in extra challenges for your body ,which you will be able to use every week in class.

We will ask you to fill out a questionnaire prior to attending this workshop so that we can tailor the workshop appropriately in advance

Beginners For Fitness

New Dates To Be Announced

2.5 hours - £25/£22 conc

  • Invaluable for anyone who currently takes part in other sports and wants to learn pilates techniques to improve their performance.
  • Useful to current class attenders who just want to take a couple of hours out to look at pilates in more depth

We will ask you to fill out a questionnaire prior to attending this workshop so that we can tailor the workshop appropriately in advance

Beginners For Health

New Dates To Be Announced

2.5 hours - £25/£22 conc

This workshop is designed for all new starters who want to get into pilates and who would like it to help them recover from or deal with an injury, joint pain, back pain, neck and shoulder tension.

This workshop is aimed at people who:-

  • Have been referred to pilates by their GP doctor or osteopath
  • Have already tried a class but found health issues such as joint pains or pelvic disfunction made it hard to keep up

We will ask you to fill out a questionnaire prior to attending this workshop so that we can tailor the workshop appropriately in advance

Joseph Pilates' Original Series

New Dates To Be Announced

3.5 hours inc 1hour 45mins of pre-series discussion, preparation and training, a short break and then approx 1 hour 45mins for the full series.

£35/£30 conc.

>

I have  been lucky enough to work on the original series with Lolita San Miguel and Julian Littleford over the past twelve months. Lolita trained directly with and was certified to teach by Joseph Pilates himself. Julian is a world renowned teacher and presenter.

Joseph Pilates intended his pupils to perform his matwork series as a whole without modification. Since his death sports science has move on leaps and bounds which mean that we need to make a few alterations to his original exercises to make them safe for everyone. Pilates was way, way ahead of his time, so had he still been alive today he would have incorporated these modifications himself.

We will go over points of technique and some of the more challenging exercises in the series then after a short break we will go through the Full Series of 35 exercises as Joseph originally intended them to be taught, with a few modifications in line with current sports science.. Open to all levels but not recommended for absolute beginners!!
